The most anticipated sporting event in the south east is getting ready to tip off as the Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Tournament returns to the   U S Cellular Center starting this Thursday, March 7th and running through the championship finals on Monday March 11th.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championships will be joining Eblen Charities, Arby’s, and the Brumit Restaurant Group in collecting food for the Hoops Against Hunger program. Teams throughout the conference will be collecting food during their games this season with the food being brought to the tournaments to thank our community for hosting the championships.

Food will also be collected during the tournament on March 1st-5th at the US Cellular Center with a $5 discount per ticket being given for anyone bringing food to the sessions.

The food will then be distributed to area schools through the Arby’s JoyFull Holidays at Home and the Ingles Food for Thought programs. Local hotels will once again be hosting the SOCON teams in the Second Annual Ingles Southern Conference Hotel Challenge.Hotel and will also collecting food during the tournament along with tournament sponsors Ingles Markets and local Arby’s restaurants.

The Hoops Against Hunger will begin the week with four days of live broadcasts with iheart radio :Monday March 4th from 5- 7 pm at the Ingles in Skyland on Hendersonville Road, the second Tuesday, March 4th, from 11 am to 1 pm at the Arby’s in Weaverville.The third live remote will be held on Wednesday, March 5th th from 5-7 pm at Ingles on Tunnel Road, and the final remote will be on Thursday, March 7th form 11 am to 1:00 pm at Arby’s on Smoky Park Highway.

A new event will take to the streets this year as Ingles Fan Experience and will feature concerts, live broadcasts, pep rallies, and a host of other exciting events will take place outside the U.S. Cellular center on Friday, (1-7 pm), Saturday (10 am-4 pm), and Sunday (2:30-6 pm). The Ingles Fan Experience is open to all at no charge.

Performing will be Asheville natives and rising music stars LYRIC and Joe Lasher, Jr. as they bring their unique sound once again to the Ingles Southern Conference Championships in a free outdoor concerts that will not only delight new and long-time fans but will also help children in our area facing hunger.

Joe Lasher Jr, will be kicking off FanFest in a tip-off concert beginning at 6:15 on Friday night and LRYIC will be performing Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. Also appearing at the Ingles FanFest will be popular and award winning Eddie Foxx of KISS-Country, live broadcasts from KISS Country, ESPN, the Extreme Sports Monster with Don Helman, Rock 105.1, the Brew 97.7, Star 104.3, WSSL, the New Alt 101.1 with Josh Michael and Mark Starling, and Boogie Therapi, Ryan Barber, Carolina Lowdown, and many other events and surprises.
