The Southern Conference, Asheville-Buncombe Regional Sports Commission and Ingles announced today the addition of the Ingles JamFest to the list of special activities surrounding this year’s Southern Conference Basketball Championships presented by General Shale, which will be conducted in Asheville March 2-6.
Ingles JamFest, and outdoor tailgate party and concert, will take place outside the U.S. Cellular center on Page Avenue on Sunday, March 5 from 2 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Performing at Ingles JamFest will be Asheville natives LYRIC and Joe Lasher, Jr. Ingles JamFest will also feature food, drink and beer vendors. The Ingles JamFest area will be open to the public beginning at 2 p.m., with the first musical act taking the stage at 2:45. Admission is free.
Joe Lasher Jr is a dynamic rock and new southern country artist, songwriter and performer whose songs, style, and performances appeal to a broad spectrum of music lovers. He has become one of the hottest performers in the southeast, having performed with the likes of Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry.
LYRIC, led by Leeda “Lyric” Jones plays a mixture of pop, soul and funk. The five-part band has developed a dedicated following in the Asheville and surrounding area. Readers of Asheville’s independent weekly newspaper, The Mountain Xpress, have named LYRIC the top local act in both the soul and R&B/blues categories.
Ingles JamFest will also benefit Eblen Charities and its Hoops Against Hunger program. Hoops Against Hunger helps to provide snacks and meals to school age children without enough food at home. Fans attending Ingles JamFest are encouraged to bring donations of ready to eat or easy to serve food items. People donating food items at Ingles JamFest can receive a voucher for $5 off a general admission session ticket to the Southern Conference Basketball Championships.
